Nominees from each category for the Dogington Post Award have been selected based on strict criteria including dedication to animal welfare, educating the public on responsible pet ownership, and nationwide initiatives to end the homelessness of animals.

This week, we’re presenting the nominees for Best Dog-Loving Celebrity in 2012!

Dogington Post’s Best Dog Loving Celebrity nominees are:

The Country Music Association’s (CMA) Female Performer of the Year, Miranda Lambert, is using her amazing voice for more than just belting out number one hits. She’s using her voice to speak for dogs!

The country star and her hubby, fellow country crooner Blake Shelton, share their Oklahoma home with 6 rescue dogs lucky enough to wander onto their property and into their lives. But, Lambert’s dedication to dog rescue certainly doesn’t end there! Through the non-profit organization, MuttNation Foundation, that she started in 2009, Miranda Lambert is directly involved in building animal shelters, increasing pet adoption and rescue, encouraging responsible pet ownership, rehabilitating sick or unsocialized animals, funding spay and neuter programs, reducing euthanasia of adoptable dogs, and training dogs for therapy and dogs-in-prison programs.
