Toto was a female Cairn Terrier whose name was actually Terry until it was officially changed to Toto (due to the movie’s popularity) in 1942. Although Terry performed in several feature films alongside mega stars like Shirley Temple and Spencer Tracy, her only credited role was in The Wizard of Oz as Toto.

Fun Fact: Toto was paid $125 a week for her role as Toto – more than most human actors in the movie were paid!
