Uggie became the first dog to press his paws into concrete outside the theater’s courtyard on Monday in front of a crowd of fans and tourists. He arrived to the event in a firetruck wearing a golden bow tie dog collar and was treated to a fire hydrant shaped dog cake to celebrate. Councilman Tom LaBonge even declared June 25th as “Uggie Day” in Los Angeles. The Chinese Theatre sent tweets out to fans and followers throughout the event.

Uggie’s trainer spoke at the event, saying, “The main message that Uggie would like to send to everybody out there is to please adopt,” Uggie’s trainer, Omar Van Muller, told the crowd. “He’s adopted. He made it. If you guys can adopt a dog, even if they don’t make it on the big screen, they’ll be big stars at your house.”
And, even fellow silver screen canine stars, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie came to show their support for Uggie!
