The headlines that broke our hearts: where are these dogs & their abusers now?

Following a neighbor’s video footage, investigators from the Peninsula Humane Society and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals visited the home of 65-year old California dogsitter, Linda Levac where they seized 10 dogs that were in her care.

The dog seen in the horrifying video was not among the 10 removed from Levac’s home. The dog in the video was Frisco, a 12-pound Chihuahua mix, whose owner had left him in Levac’s care for about a week during which the abuse occurred.

Thankfully, Frisco was not physically hurt in the attack. In fact, Frisco’s owners only found out about the abuse when they witnessed the video along with the rest of the world.

Levac was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Had the dog suffered visible injuries, she would likely have been charged with a felony. She was also charged with operating an unlicensed dog boarding facility.

She was arrested and released on $10,000 bond after pleading not guilty to the charges. She is still awaiting trial.

Up NEXT, did the police officer caught on tape beating his K-9 partner, Boone, ever face charges? Is he still a working officer?
