Why Choose a Heated Dog Bed?

The way we see it, is why shouldn’t you choose a heated dog bed? They really do provide excellent comfort for your dog. There are plenty of benefits of using a heated dog bed:

1.Not all of us let our dogs in the house all the time. There are sometimes people require their dogs to be outside. We still want them to be warm, right? A heated dog bed doesn’t always have to be plugged in. There are heated dog beds that are made for the outdoors. This will help the dog stay nice and warm regardless of where they are.

2.A heated dog bed helps older dogs with arthritis or other muscle or joint problems ease their pain and soreness. Also if a dog has been injured and needs to recover, a heated dog bed helps the dog recover quickly and comfortably.

3.We’ve seen puppies in the past that were weaned late, and have transitioning problems. Heated beds have been known to provide comfort to the puppies going through transition.

4.It’s always a good idea to allow your dog to have their own space. You like your own space, right? Dogs are no different. When they have their own space, it gives them a sense of security.

How Safe Are They?

They can be incredibly safe as long as you take the proper precautions. A lot of beds don’t have cords the dog can chew on. The beds that do have a cord the dog could chew on will generally come with a cord protector of some sort.

Sometimes you have to purchase the protector separately. If this isn’t monitored properly, this could do serious harm to your dog if they chew through the cord while it is plugged in.

Also, it’s good to monitor the level of thickness the bed has over time. I usually recommend spending the little extra money so you know you’re getting a quality product.

However, if the bed does end up sinking over time then you will have to worry about the hot coil underneath. This can end up damaging the bed or burning your animal.

You can also opt for different types of heated dog beds. There are beds available that can be powered by batteries or even solar power.

There are even dog beds that can be microwaved. This obviously won’t last as long as wired, electric beds, but the safety they bring does hold value to some.

This is an outdoor bed for dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors. This bed would work well in the garage, barn, porch or dog house. You still want it to be under some sort of cover. If it’s not, it will seriously take a toll on the life of the bed.

The bed heats up to a warm 102 degrees F, but it’s thermostat controlled so you’re able to heat it up how you prefer. It also uses about 60 watts of energy.

The bed comes in small, medium, or large. This is controlled by a cord, so you will need to invest in a cord protector so your dog doesn’t chew into it!

This is perhaps the simplest model that you will find. It’s also the least expensive. It’s also incredibly versatile.

This is a bed that will typically be used for a smaller dog or even a cat. The bed can use the heater that comes with it or you can simply take out the heater if it becomes a safety concern and just use the bed.

You can also take the heater out to clean the bed!

The padding is about 5” thick, so it’s not likely to wear down and get too uncomfortable for your dog. Also, it comes with a plush, heated pillow for the winter months.

Additionally, the bed comes with a removable, washable bed cover. Those who have had dog beds that don’t offer this feature know how incredibly important it is! It helps keep the dog bed from getting disgusting.

Lastly, this dog bed comes in two different sizes and two different colors. It’s made for medium to large breed dogs.
