Big lots expands with a new akc approved line of dog products

Big Lots, a Columbus-based discount and closeout retailer, launched AKC Select last month. It is a line of pet products that features the American Kennel Club (AKC) brand. The line has a large range of dog toys, dog treats, and other dog accessories including grooming supplies and potty pads.

The AKC is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1884, and it is also the largest purebred dog registry in the world. The AKC is also the sports-governing body for more than 22,000 dog events every year including dog shows, agility events, tracking events, obedience events, and much more. They strive to enrich the lives of both purebred and mixed-breed canines around the world.

The line is very reasonably priced, a quality that means a lot to Big Lots shoppers. The products range in price from $3.50 to $15. To celebrate the launch, Big Lots has created a video campaign on YouTube that pairs babies and puppies together as they face off in a battle of cuteness. Each video ends with a call for viewers to vote for #TeamBabies or #TeamDoggies.

Although they are reasonably priced, the products in the line are all made of high quality materials. There are chew toys, collars, leads, and training pads, along with a selection of stain and odor removers, rawhide treats, harnesses, and waste bags.

The AKC Select line also features all-natural dog treats in flavors like barley and beef. They also offer a selection of crate mats and dog beds. Richard R. Chene, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer for Big Lots says that the company understands that dog owners see their pets as part of the family.

Big Lots is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The company operates 1,461 stores in 48 states with products in many different categories including food, furniture, seasonable items, and home décor.
