Boston firefighters rescue golden doodle stranded in river

Video: Police And Fire Officials Rescue Dog From Icy MA River

Cooper, an unlucky Golden Retriever and Poodle mix, became stranded on a tree in the freezing Charles River in Boston after an early morning walk in March. He bolted, ripping his leash from his owner’s hand during his morning walk one Saturday and became lost.

Cooper’s owners put up flyers and combed the neighborhood looking for him, but had no luck. Nearly 24 hours later they received a call from a concerned citizen who had spotted Cooper stranded in the river.

When his owners placed a call for help, Boston firefighters responded ready to assist. They waded out and rescued Cooper from the freezing water and bundled him up with jackets and blankets until his owners arrived.

It’s obvious in this video that these firefighters have hearts as big their fire trucks. They lovingly pet Cooper and talk soothingly to him to calm him down. In the end, Cooper is reunited with his family and is able to return home safe and sound.
