Chain collars, also referred to as choke collars, are often criticized because when the collar is tightened around the dog’s neck he feels the chain. This can cause unnecessary discomfort and pain. The Alternative Training Collar was created by professional dog trainer Joel Silverman to prevent this issue.

The collar works in the same way that a chain collar does, but instead of a metal chain around the dog’s neck there is a leather strap. When the dog is corrected the collar tightens briefly to show him that what he is doing is not okay.

All the pressure from the collar comes from outside the dog, so as soon as he stops the unacceptable behavior the pressure stops. The Alternative Training Collar comes in five sizes from small to extra-large.
