Dogs and dog psychology are not complex- there are only 5 Natural Laws that they follow. If we remember these and listen to the truth that our dogs are telling us ` rather than our own stories about them ` we make things much simpler for ourselves and our pack.

We can keep life simple by living in the moment. Unless you literally are a rocket scientist, you`re probably not dealing with anything very complicated on a day-to-day basis. The complications arise when we start worrying about what`s going to happen instead of dealing with what is happening.

Dogs only deal with what is happening right now, in the moment. If a stranger walks onto the porch, then they may become excited or defensive and start barking, but once the threat is gone, a balanced dog will go back to being calm.

This is also why we can create misbehaviors in our dogs when we complicate things by worrying about what might happen. If you spend the entire walk feeling tense because you`re afraid that another dog and yours will get into a fight, then your dog will react to what`s happening right now, which is your unstable energy. If you do run into another dog while you`re in this energy state, then you will cause an incident because you`ve been asking your dog to be alert and protective.

The lesson our dogs are teaching us is to live in the moment. Don`t fight or flee problems that come up, and don`t invent problems that might happen. Ignore little inconveniences and focus on the positive.

Most of all, focus on what makes dogs happiest ` being part of a balanced pack with a confident leader ` then put yourself in the role of that confident leader and just enjoy the happiness of being with your pack, dealing with what is happening right now.
