4 Essential products you need in your pet first aid kit

Whether you’re taking your dog on an outdoor adventure like hiking or camping, a simple walk around the neighborhood, or a game of fetch in the backyard, being prepared for minor accidents and injuries is essential.

Like human kids, dogs are curious, adventurous, and maybe a little oblivious to the dangers around them. That’s why, just as any human parent would have a first aid kit on hand, so should every dog parent.

Your pet first aid kit should, of course, include the basics: gauze and bandages, scissors, tweezers, nail clippers, etc. But don’t stop there!

I was given the chance to try the Dr. Emmo’s line of pet first aid products. As a parent to two active, energetic, adventuresome Golden Retrievers (Olive and Noah) under the age of 2, minor accidents and injuries are common. Let’s just say my dogs gave me several opportunities to try the Dr. Emmo’s products – and we are all SO impressed!

Here are a few of the opportunities I had to use these products. Can you relate?
(Don’t miss an awesome offer at the end of this article!)

Test Opportunity #1: The Hiking Trail
Olive is completely and utterly obsessed with lizards. So much so, that she’ll pounce into a bush, dart off into the woods, or jump into a tree with complete and total disregard for potential injuries if she thinks she spotted one of these anoles. So, when we hit the local hiking trail last weekend, I knew I’d likely be treating some minor cuts and scrapes. Sure enough, when Olive emerged from a bush, covered in thorny stems and leaves, she’d sustained a minor scrape on her front paw.

She most certainly wasn’t ready to call it a day and head home, and the scrape wasn’t serious, so right there on the trail, I cleansed her paw with Dr. Emmo’s Wound Care Wash, an antimicrobial, sting-free, and safe-to-lick solution that both soothes the scrape and eliminates any bacteria. I followed up with the Wound Care Gel, an antibacterial solution designed to moisten and protect the scrape from exposure to germs and bacteria. Because it’s in a gel form, it stayed put, protecting her scrape while we continued our hike. (Dr. Emmo’s makes these two products in a handy, travel-size pack that’ll easily fit into your bag or clip onto a carabiner to take along during walks and hikes.)

A scrape that would normally have sent us home to avoid further irritation or infection was easily treated on the spot and our fun day continued!

Test Opportunity #2: The Beach

Dr. Emmo`s Ear Rinse if perfect for keeping floppy wet ears like Noah`s from developing into an ear infection!

Olive and Noah are bonafied water dogs. If there’s a puddle within sight, they’re splashing in it. If there’s a pool, they’re swimming in it. If there’s mud, they’re rolling in it. So, naturally, I take them to my local dog-friendly beach for fun and exercise. The only problem, they both have floppy ears. Floppy ears and swimming aren’t always the best combination. Moisture gets down in the ear canal, the ear covers the canal, keeps it all warm and toasty, and turns the cute floppy ear into a bacterial breeding ground.

Other parents to floppy eared dogs will agree, our dog’s ears need to be cleaned regularly and religiously. Still, despite regular cleanings, my dogs are both prone to ear issues – dirty, gunky, sometimes smelly ear issues.

However, since I started using Dr. Emmo’s Ear Rinse a few months ago, I’ve avoided any and all ear infections! Because my dogs don’t enjoy having their ears cleaned, I squeeze the antimicrobial ear rinse onto a cottonball, place it just inside the ear, put the ear flap down, and massage. No matter how clean my dog’s ears look before I do this, the cottonball always comes out dirty. Dr. Emmo’s Ear Rinse breaks down wax build-up, rinses away dirt and debris, and leaves my dog’s ears looking and smelling fresh and clean. It gets the stuff that other ear cleaners leave behind.

Cleaning your dog’s ears should be a regular occurrence, whether they’re floppy or erect, or whether your dog loves the water or prefers to keep dry. Of all the ear cleaning solutions I’ve used (and, I’ve used a LOT!) Dr. Emmo’s is my favorite.

Test Opportunity #3: The Backyard

...and Dr. Emmo`s Eye Wash is perfect for rinsing mud out of a dirty dog`s eyes!

As much as I’d love a lush, green, grassy backyard, that’s just about impossible with my 60+ pound Goldens chasing each other around. Because they’ve worn a near perfect figure eight path in the backyard, when they get going a lot of dust and dirt gets kicked around.

Just this morning, after a big chase around the backyard, Noah came inside squinting and pawing at his face. Because he was also covered in a fine layer of dirt and still panting from the run, I knew that he’d gotten some dirt in his eye. Lucky for me, Dr. Emmo’s has a solution for that as well!

After wiping the inner corner of Noah’s eye clean, I squeezed a few drops of Dr. Emmo’s Eye Wash into his eye. Almost immediately, he stopped squinting. (And, I swear he smiled at me!) Used in the same way that we would use eye drops or human eye wash, Dr. Emmo’s Eye Wash relieves your dog’s eye irritation with a sting-free, soothing formula that also kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria that are common in pets.

A Dr. Emmo’s fan for life, I will always keep these 4 essential products in my dogs’ first aid kit. Of course, you should always use your best judgement when dealing with minor accidents and injuries. Dr. Emmo’s first aid products are not a replacement for emergency veterinary care, but are an excellent way to prevent minor issues from developing into major problems.

All of Dr. Emmo’s first aid products use a highly effective and safe technology to fight infections that can be caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi pathogens. Dr. Emmo’s technology works in the same way that a pets immune system works to seek out pathogens and then surround and kill them using Hypochlorous acid (HOCL). Dr. Emmo’s first aid products deliver a safe and highly effective level of HOCL at optimal pH levels to effectively kill pathogens and prevent the health risk that they can cause.

Because every pet’s first aid kit should include the four products mentioned above, Dr. Emmo’s is giving Dogington Post readers an awesome promotional offer!
