Delta Airlines Accused of Losing Dog at LAX

A Tampa man is devastated, lost, and looking for answers after learning that his dog, under the control of Delta Airlines, went missing at some point between being loaded into his crate at LAX and being loaded onto the plane headed for Tampa.

Frank Romano and his dog, Ty, a 6-year old Pit Bull, were flying from Los Angeles to Tampa last week. He had already boarded the plane when a flight attendant came to his seat and told him that Ty was missing.

“She said your dog bit through the kennel. And we need you to just identify the dog. And then she changed her story that they couldn’t find my dog. And that the dog had been lost for an hour,” Romano explained to CBS2.

The search for Ty still continues, with no sightings or information from Delta who says they followed proper procedures and that “the dog may have compromised the kennel on its own.”

Although Delta has expressed regret this occurred while Ty was entrusted in their care, the Department of Transportation says that over a dozen dogs have chewed through their kennels and escaped or died on planes this year alone.
