Female dogs have amazing maternal instincts. We’ve seen them adopt and take care of baby animals outside their species. One dog even produced milk for the kittens that she adopted.

And here we have another female dog who showed strong maternal instincts. In Guangdong, China, an Akita named Gouzai has become the unlikely mother of three piglets.

According to Gouzai’s owner, Ms. Pan, Gouzai gave birth to six puppies, however, she lost them in an accident. Gouzai was heartbroken. But when her owners bought three piglets to raise in their farm, Gouzai started mothering them. She cleans them with her tongue and she even feeds them. Amazingly, the piglets look at Gouzai as their new mom and they start following her around!

Ms Pan didn’t expect their dog would take care of the piglets that they bought. They were surprised to see Gouzai feeding and nurturing the piglets all by herself.

She and her husband promise to take care of Gouzai until she gets old. Now that their children are all grown up, Gouzai is the only family member left who keeps them company.
