Breaking news recall alert – fromm foods recalls select canned dog foods
The Fromm Family Foods pet food company just announced that it is voluntarily recalling several of its 12-ounce cans of Gold Dog Food Pate due to elevated Vitamin D. They made the discovery through their own analysis and are recalling these products “out of an abundance of caution,” the company states.
Affected Product
The affected products were shipped to distributers from December 2015 – February 2016. The following products are being recalled:
12 oz. Gold Chicken Pate Dog – can

The Risk
Dogs can suffer from Vitamin D overdose, including kidney failure according to Pethealthnetwork.com. The signs may not show for 2-3 days. Here are the symptoms to look for:
- Not eating or decreased appetite
- Excessive or decreased thirst and urination
- Weakness or lethargy
- Dehydration
- Bad breath
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
Other clinical signs that your veterinarian may detect include:
- Increased kidney values
- Bad breath, secondary to kidney failure
- Dehydration
- Abdominal pain
