Gigantic great dane in the running for the title of the world’s tallest dog

A Great Dane named Major may soon be the world record holder for being the tallest living dog.
Living in south Wales with owners Brian and Julie Williams, the gargantuan 3-year-old dog is a whopping 7 feet tall when standing on his hind legs. He weighs 12 stone, or about 168 pounds, and consumes a tasty diet that mainly consists of chicken and rice. He also has a human mattress instead of a “dog bed,” as he needs plenty of room to sprawl while spending most of his day napping.
When he is awake, the colossal canine has plenty of room to roam, living on the expansive land of his humans’ falconry. “We bought him as a pup and he has been with us ever since. He has got free reign of the place if he wants to go out, he isn’t locked indoors,” said Mr. Williams, as reported by the Daily Mail
And true to his size, Major has a massive capacity to love. “He is the biggest-hearted dog in the world. He is such a fantastic animal. People love seeing him. They play with him all day,” said Mr. Williams added in the story.

Major is in the running with two other Great Danes to win the title of World’s Tallest Dog. Said Mrs. Williams of his competition, “He is up against Freddy and Rocco. It’s going to be fun to find out if he’s the tallest – but he’s top dog to us anyway,” reported Daily Mail.
The Guinness World Record for the tallest dog ever is held by Zeus, a Great Dane who was 7 feet, 4 inches while standing on his hind legs, weighing a slim 155 pounds. Because he was so huge, he sadly passed away at 5 years old due to old age. (Generally, a Great Dane’s life expectancy is about 6-8 years.)
Good luck, Major! Your big heart makes you a winner in our book!
