How to Care for a Minor Dog Burn
To treat small burns an ice pack or package of frozen vegetables (both wrapped in a thin towel) should be applied to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes. Chemical burns should be flushed with cool water for 5 to 10 minutes. The hair covering the burn should be clipped. The wound should be gently washed with disinfectant soap and rinsed with cool water. After drying, apply a thin layer of over-the-counter triple antibiotic cream. The area can be covered with a light dressing if the dog will not chew it off.
