In January 2014 Ivy Diep found a pitiful Yorkie Mix pup wandering the streets of LA. He was dirty, matted and extremely thin. She scooped him up and brought him home to her family who instantly adored him.

Popeye the dog is now living a life that any canine would envy. As Ivy’s constant companion, he joins her on “Instagram dates” to sample and document the best foods Los Angeles has to offer.
In fact, Popeye became such a staple in Ivy’s posts that she created him his very own page – PopeyeTheFoodie.
Unlike most dogs, when presented with a massive plate of delicious cuisine, Popeye does not dive in and chow down. Instead he strikes a sophisticated pose – often in a themed costume to match the menu.
If Ivy happens to be enjoying a meal that is safe for Popeye’s sensitive doggy belly, she always slips him a taste.

Ivy assures that Popeye doesn’t mind skipping all the ice cream, donuts, sushi and fast food – he actually prefers his own treats which are always on hand.
She told ABC News:
“He’s usually not really into the food anyway. He just likes to be out and about—people watching and to bark at any other dog that walks by.”

Ivy is limited as to where her foodie friend may accompany her- but luckily LA has lots of restaurants with pet-friendly patios for Popeye to enjoy.

He already has more than 109,000 loyal fan followers! Not too shabby for a once-stray pup!
