Wellpet excels at superzoo 2015

SuperZoo 2015 has begun! Although the national show for pet retailers just began today, there are already a few manufacturers who are standing out from the crowd. One of those companies is WellPet, the makers of the natural pet food brands Old Mother Hubbard, Wellness, Holistic Select, and Eagle Pack.

Innovative pet food ingredients have taken center stage at SuperZoo 2015 and with all the recent recalls on pet food and treats, it is easy to see why. WellPet used the event to launch a few new products. They debuted new natural recipes that are focused on whole-prey protein, superfoods, and probiotics.

These new product launches include Holisitc Select Grain Free Adult Rabbit Meal & Chickpeas dog food and a raw-inspired dog treat that allows owners to feed raw without the mess. Holistic Select also announced their new Drizzles dog treats, which are made with live yogurt cultures, papaya, and pumpkin for digestive health.

Chanda Leary-Coutu, senior marketing manager for WellPet, said that the company knows how important top-quality ingredients are to pet parents and that is why they strive to make their ingredient lists as easy to read as possible. The company does not use any artificial flavors, fillers, colors, or hard to pronounce preservatives in any of their recipes.

She also said that the company is leading the trend to increase the protein content in dog food and include superfoods in dog food recipes. Earlier this year, the company launched Wellness TruFood, their new brand of pet food and treats that are made with whole-prey proteins, antioxidant rich superfoods, and raw produce. The food is blended by hand and baked in small batches, just like the meals that pet owners cook at home.

Wellness TruFood Protein Bites made their debut at SuperZoo 2015. These dog treats are air dried and packed with 70% fresh beef or chicken as well as nutrient dense superfoods like broccoli, blueberries, and flaxseed. These dog treats are naturally full of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other nutritional benefits.

WellPet’s roots date back as far as 1873, but their first brand, Old Mother Hubbard, wasn’t founded until 1926.
