Did you know dogs had a part in the Passover story?
The Bible says “But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD puts a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.” (Exodus 11:7)
When the angel of death passed over the Israelites and killed the first born, no dogs barked. In those days, people believed dogs barked at a sign of death. So this was a great recognition of the power of the Lord.
The Egyptian god Anubis had the shape of a dog and they kept dogs in the Temple to Anubis. By staying silent on the night of Passover, dogs redeemed themselves from being associated as a god.
