He’s already the top dog of the tennis world, now Andy Murray, the defending Wimbledon men’s champion, is a hero in the dog world, too!

On his way to practice, the tennis pro spotted a lost Labradoodle running alongside the road, getting dangerously close to traffic. A dog lover with two furry kids of his own – a pair of Border Terriers named Maggie May and Rusty, Andy didn’t think twice before pulling his car over, stopping traffic, and rescuing the runaway pooch.

Andy lured the exhausted pup into the backseat of his car and drove to a nearby parking lot to call the phone number engraved on the dog’s ID tag.

“It had obviously been chasing something, but it was absolutely shattered, it was drooling everywhere in the car, panting. But thankfully it was safe,” Andy explained to BBC.

As it turns out, the Labradoodle’s grateful owner knew Andy’s dog quite well, as they regularly walk together along with Andy’s girlfriend.

Looks like his act of heroism earned him a little good karma – Murray won his opening match at Wimbledon yesterday.
