The FBI has rescued 64 dogs in Illinois and Iowa from a horrible underground dog fighting ring. The pictures of these dogs being rescued are shocking, because none of us expect dogs to be abused to this extent today. There are still secret dog fighting circles where people are making money betting on dogs and taking advantage of them.

These dogs were taken out of places with guns and narcotics. The FBI had been working on this case for a while, and they joined with the ASPCA to rescue these dogs. The dogs are being held at an undisclosed location while they recover from the brutal treatment they were exposed to.

This case was massive and it’s sparked more people to be on the alert for potential underground dog fighting.

The ASPCA has been around for 150 years, and they step in when these types of situations happen. If you suspect dog mistreatment, they are the people to call. It’s not surprising this sad story has reached millions of viewers because it’s so surprising that this type of criminal activity still goes on.

The penalty has just been increased for dog fighting by the federal government thanks to the public comments on the issue. 50,000 concerned citizens reached out and wanted to increase the punishment. Now people involved in dog fighting face 27 months of prison time.

The ASPCA has a Field Investigations and Response team, and it’s hard for them to believe the cruelty these animals face. It’s completely in humane, and we have to work together to stop it. Now the organization is giving the dogs proper medical care and behavior therapy.

The dogs rescued from this fighting ring are not yet available for adoption, but the story is still developing. The ASPCA is working with law enforcement to make sure the dogs are safe. The FBI started investigating this over a year ago, and then they served 10 search warrants in different properties in Davenport, Iowa as well as in Rock Island, Illinois.

Some of these dogs are really beat up and have horrible wounds and scars. Many people are shocked to find out that this happens all over the country. The more this story spreads, the more people will hopefully contact authorities to protect innocent dogs.

Dogs are loving animals with feelings and not to be used for greed and power. The millions of people that have seen the story of these 64 dogs are now informed and can help put an end to this. The ASPCA is a non-profit organization with limited funds. The more donations they receive, the better they will be able to help these dogs recover and uncover more cases. We can all consider doing a fundraiser in our local community for this cause.
