Losing a loved one is something that can stay with you for a very long time. I’ve lost both my parents, and dealing with their loss comes in stages. But to lose my spouse, the person I’ve built my life with, I can’t imagine how that would feel–and my heart goes out to all those who have.

And because our pets are family, we take their loss hard, too. This poor grandfather lost his wife and his dog both in a matter of 4 months. Obviously heartbroken, his family wanted to surprise him with a special gift hoping to cheer him up. His reaction? Well, it certainly moved me to tears!
