Former surf champ helps dogs behave by teaching them how to surf!





Chris de Aboitiz is a former surf champion. Now he’s a dog trainer who uses his incredible surfing skills to train dogs!

Christ travels around Australia with his four rescue dogs Max, Murph, Rama and Millie. They have been catching waves together for almost 10 years. And now he and his beloved pooches promote a healthy relationship between dogs who have behavioral issues and their humans through surfing.

Through surfing, Chris teaches dogs discipline in a fun way. He calls his training the Natural Balance Dog.

With his method, Chris aims to rehabilitate a dogs’ unwanted behavior by first understanding his behavior through reading the dog’s body language, and by teaching owners to give the proper way to correct or reward the dog at the right time.

His dogs enjoy tagging along with him. Chris told The Dodo “They love hanging out and having fun. It’s a good way to exercise your dog and it’s such a simple pleasure.

He also said that training the dogs is the easy part. The hard part is training the owners!
