Senior dog with cancer dumped at shelter and needs our help to find a home

While some dogs are lucky to spend their years with a loving family, there are senior dogs at the shelter who are still hopeful that they’d find a family of their own. But what’s most heartbreaking is these senior shelter dogs spend the last of their days not being able to experience what having a real family is like.

Duffy is a senior shelter dog with cancer. But he doesn’t care about his sickness. All he want is to find a loving human to spend the rest of his days with.

Duffy used to have a family- he once had a place to call home. But the people he called family dumped him at the shelter when their landlord said that big dogs are not allowed.

He is a big dog, but he’s a gentle giant–sweet and loving.

Duffy is currently living at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter. He has been living there for 6 months. And recently, he has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 malignant sarcoma–a cancer that will most likely be terminal.

But Duffy is not giving up.

Even though he was dumped by the people he called family, even if he was placed in a scary, unfamiliar kennel, and despite being diagnosed with cancer, he’s not giving up. He still craves the love of a human, and he still wants to have a loving home and family to spend his remaining days with.

Duffy hasn’t given up on mankind, and we’re not gonna give up on him. We want him to find a loving foster/forever home where he may spend his remaining time being loved and cared for.

When you adopt a dog, you are saving that dog’s life. But with Duffy, giving him a home would mean so much more.

So please, we are knocking on your hearts…please SHARE his story and SPREAD the word…Duffy needs all the love he can get in his remaining time here on earth before he crosses the rainbow bridge.

Don’t think about the tears and the heartache, focus rather on the love and the difference you can bring to this dog’s life. Think about how you can make his final days count, days filled with love, tail-wagging, slobbery kisses and happy walks and playtime at the park.
