A South Florida woman waited 8 long years to see her beloved dog again!
Pia-zadorable ran away from home 8 years ago when, while her owner was away on vacation, a workman left the door to her Boca Raton home open. For nearly a decade, no one knew what happened to Pia or if she’d ever return home.
Luckily Pia’s human kept her microchip registration up-to-date with current contact information and last Friday when Pia was brought into animal services, they were quickly able to locate her rightful family.
Animal services workers believe whoever originally found Pia 8 years ago didn’t have her scanned for a microchip. Penny Howard, Pia’s owner, hopes telling her story will remind others, if you find a stray, have them checked for a chip. There may be a family desperately searching for a lost pet.
