Nineteen-year-old Megan Campbell left her 5-year-old Puggle in the car while she went to run errands. But here’s the kicker–she was at a PetSmart. As we pup parents know, the pet supply chainwelcomes dogs into the store, a fact that makes this story even more baffling.

Firefighters received a call about the distressed dog, arriving just after noon on Friday to break it out of the car. The inside temperature of the vehicle was over 90 degrees, and rescuers attempted to cool the pup down, rushing it into PetSmart’s in-house clinic. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful and the dog passed away.
