What makes these amazing photos so amazing is that these dogs are not asleep. Talented Australian photographer Alex Cearns literally captures her subjects in the blink of an eye in order to get photos that convey pure relaxation. It all started when she captured an image in 2013 of Suzi the Shar-Pei with her eyes closed and a big smile on her face. After that, Cearns wanted her work to show more dogs in the midst pure contentment.

“The images capture a split second blink of my subjects, freezing the moment in time. Sitting only a foot away, I watch each dog subject carefully to pick up on their blinking pattern, and takes a series of images just before I predicts their blink,” Cearns explained in a story by Pawtrait Perfect.
