The male members of the Golden Retriever breed normally weigh 65 to 75 lbs., and stand 23 to 24 in height at the withers. Bitches, on the other hand, are rather lighter and smaller. They weigh about 55 to 65 lbs., and stand about 21 to 23 in height measured at the withers.
Temperament
Golden Retrievers have been renowned for their obedience and devotedness. They generally make excellent family pets. They are commonly very friendly with children and other animals. Since they tend to love “everyone”, they typically do not make great watchdogs.

Healthy Golden Retrievers are capable of living for as long as 10 to 14 years. Just like any other dog breed, this retriever breed is also prone to quite a few health problems. Some of these include thyroid problems, cataracts, cancer, elbow dysplasia, and epilepsy.
