We pet parents know how exciting those first days, weeks, and months are following the adoption of a furry family member. But even as you settle into a routine, your love continues to grow deeper as you learn to depend on your canine’s companionship in your every day life.

Imgur user metalfacemark took pictures to remember that first exciting year of pup parenthood with his dog, Harvey. As a tribute to their ever-growing love and friendship, he posted a series of photos on the anniversary of the day they took the him home!

There’s that first day when you bring a puppy home and you simply can’t believe that this fuzzy bundle of joy is actually going to be living with you!

As your pup starts to settle into the family, his own little personality starts to develop. He picks out his favorite spots to frequent…

“Banana was eaten shortly afterwards and pooped out.”

And whether he’d prefer to cuddle / fetch / destroy / eat said toys.

“He liked a snuggle with me and monkey – monkey went the same way as banana shortly after.”

Then there’s the first time your little angel does something really naughty, but you can’t stay mad because…that face.

You begin to marvel at how much he’s growing, missing those tiny puppy days, but excited to see what life has in store for you next.

You’re amazed at how any being in the world can want to be around you all the time, and never, ever get sick of you. What’s more, you never, ever get sick of him either…

Getting fresh air and exercise is much more fun now that you have a pup to enjoy it with.

You feel like a proud parent with every single accomplishment.
