Army veteran Kevin Stone has filed a police report and intends to sue – not for financial gain, but to bring awareness and prevent others from going through the same stressful situation he did – after being told to leave a Sevierville, Tennessee restaurant because of his service dog, Mambo.

Stone visited Screwballs Bar & Grill for dinner and, despite having dined there several times in the past with his service dog in tow, was forced to leave when restaurant owner, Jack Disney told him the health department doesn’t allow dogs inside.

The Americans With Disabilities Act clearly states that “businesses and organizations that serve the public must allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals into all areas of the facility where customers are normally allowed to go.” This absolutely includes restaurants.

Screwballs has issued an apology to Stone, telling WATE 6,

“We at Screwball’s are sorry for any misunderstandings or hurt feelings regarding Kevin Stone and his service dog. We cherish our Veterans and support them tirelessly. We welcome service dogs and are just crushed that the news story might have left any other impression. We will continue our support of all our veterans and continue to welcome them to Screwball’s with grateful hearts.”
