Because of the shape of their skulls and nasal passages, short-faced, or brachycephalic, dogs like English Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers, etc., are particularly sensitive to heat.

Acting quickly to save her life, police used a “lock out” tool to unlock the vehicle and rescue the dog.

“I gave her water. Put water on her neck and on her feet,” said Urman, who is also the CEO of Pet ResQ Inc.

It was more than 40 minutes later when FiFi’s owner emerged from a nearby drugstore.

Police said the 50-year-old woman who owns the dog was cited or issued a summons at the scene, but the case is being referred to the Bergen County SPCA.
