The 12 dogs of christmas: meet chiffon, in rescue for 3 years

It’s the holidays! The time of year for families to gather together to celebrate traditions, share memories, and make new ones. This year, as you surround yourself with family and friends, both two-legged and four-legged alike, remember there are millions of dogs in shelters, patiently waiting for a family of their own.

For some, this won’t be their first, second, or even their third Christmas behind bars.

It’s our Christmas wish that every dog in rescue would find a home for the holidays, so we’ve selected 12 special dogs from around the country that have been overlooked time and time again. Some are senior dogs, some have special needs, and some are passed over for reasons we simply can’t understand – but, they all deserve to spend the holidays with a family of their own.

We’re calling this the 12 Dogs of Christmas. The Dogington Post along with our friends at Wellness have joined forces to introduce you to 12 needy dogs in hopes that they’ll finally get noticed…and maybe get a home for the holidays!

Meet Chiffon!

Chiffon is a 4-year old American Staffordshire Terrier who was abandoned after her owners moved away. A neighbor was going to take her to the shelter before 2nd Chance Dog Rescue in Queen Creek, Arizona intervened – 3 years ago!

Chiffon is extremely loving! It’s crazy that she is still looking for a home after 3 years! Chiffon is truly a “golden girl” – not only is she a beautiful golden-color, her heart is pure gold as well! Everyone who meets Chiffon falls in love with her, and she melts like butter with everyone she meets. This sweet girl is housetrained, great on a leash, and extremely well-mannered.

Special Considerations: She would do best as the only dog but would also get along with a non dominant dog.

Chiffon’s Perfect Family: An adult couple, or someone with children over 8 years old who is willing to give Chiffon time to adjust. This amazing girl has been in rescue for 3 years and as sad as it is- she has become bonded with her rescue caretakers.  Chiffon absolutely LOVES everyone that visits and gives them hugs and kisses, but when she is adopted into a forever home, she will need a couple of days to adjust. Once she does, she will be the most loyal and loving companion ever.

Chiffon is house broken, great on a leash, non-destructive and mellow. She doesn’t need much exercise but is open to walks and fetch – as long as there are kisses in between!

Chiffon will soon face her third Christmas without a family.

Chiffon’s adoption fee is $165. That includes all shots, microchip, and spay. 2nd Chance Rescue dogs are treated like family and very loved. For this reason they only adopt dogs within a 50 mile range of Queen Creek, Arizona – Queen Creek, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe.

If everything goes well at the meet/greet/home check, they offer a two week foster-to-adopt trial to give the family and the dog time to adjust and get to know each other.  Within the two weeks, the rescue will make 2-3 follow up visits to ensure everyone is doing okay. If things are going well at the end of the two week trial, they will finalize the adoption!
