The 12 dogs of christmas: meet raven, in rescue for a year and a half!

It’s the holidays! The time of year for families to gather together to celebrate traditions, share memories, and make new ones. This year, as you surround yourself with family and friends, both two-legged and four-legged alike, remember there are millions of dogs in shelters, patiently waiting for a family of their own.

For some, this won’t be their first, second, or even their third Christmas behind bars.

It’s our Christmas wish that every dog in rescue would find a home for the holidays, so we’ve selected 12 special dogs from around the country that have been overlooked time and time again. Some are senior dogs, some have special needs, and some are passed over for reasons we simply can’t understand – but, they all deserve to spend the holidays with a family of their own.

We’re calling this the 12 Dogs of Christmas. The Dogington Post along with our friends at Wellness have joined forces to introduce you to 12 needy dogs in hopes that they’ll finally get noticed…and maybe get a home for the holidays!

Meet Raven!

raven5-50756Raven is an 8-year old Rottweiler who was rescued from a puppy mill by National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado Springs, Colorado – 1 and a half years ago!

Raven is a mellow, lap loving female Rottweiler who walks well on a leash and obeys basic commands. Raven loves toys, quiet time, snuggling, walks, and going outside, so a securely fenced yard would be best. She can be leery of people she doesn’t know, but once the ice has been broken, watch out!

raven1-94286Above all, Raven loves her people, and the attention they give her. Raven is a volunteer favorite at National Mill Dog Rescue.  This sweet, playful social butterfly wants nothing more than to please the ones she loves, and they just love her right back.

Raven will soon face her second Christmas without a family.

Her adoption fee is $150, and she is spayed and current on vaccinations.
