The 12 dogs of christmas: meet chanel, in rescue for 1 year

It’s the holidays! The time of year for families to gather together to celebrate traditions, share memories, and make new ones. This year, as you surround yourself with family and friends, both two-legged and four-legged alike, remember there are millions of dogs in shelters, patiently waiting for a family of their own.

For some, this won’t be their first, second, or even their third Christmas behind bars.

It’s our Christmas wish that every dog in rescue would find a home for the holidays, so we’ve selected 12 special dogs from around the country that have been overlooked time and time again. Some are senior dogs, some have special needs, and some are passed over for reasons we simply can’t understand – but, they all deserve to spend the holidays with a family of their own.

We’re calling this the 12 Dogs of Christmas. The Dogington Post along with our friends at Wellness have joined forces to introduce you to 12 needy dogs in hopes that they’ll finally get noticed…and maybe get a home for the holidays!

Meet Chanel!

Chanel is a super sweet pittie who is looking for a family to call her own, she is 6 years old and an absolute love bug!

Chanel was surrendered to The Lowell Humane Society in Massachusetts when a new member of her family was allergic to her. She is a mellow girl who loves to snuggle and gets super wiggly when she has the chance to play with other dogs. She hasn’t shown much interest in cats here and would be fine with dog savvy kids. Her nickname is Nellie and her favorite things to do are: take long walks, beg for food and curl up to nap in cat beds!

Even though Chanel arrived with pink, painful skin, she has been nothing but sweet since the day she met her rescuers!  Her next family will be entertained by a full show when she howls the blues during bathtime. She is slowly improving and we can’t wait to see her once her skin is all healed up!

Special Considerations: The Lowell Humane Society are looking for a foster or forever home who has experience with dogs who have had skin problems or someone willing to do their research to help Chanel continue the healing process.

Chanel’s Perfect Family: Chanel is a calm girl who is just as happy to snuggle as she is to take a long walk. She enjoys playing with other dogs and has shown little interest in cats. Any family that would treat her as one of their own and love her forever will no doubt fall in love with these sweet, snuggly girl.

Chanel will soon face another Christmas without a family.

The adoption process to take Chanel home is quite easy! Just fill out a basic adoption application and provide proof that you can have a dog where you live (a mortgage statement, lease with pet policy or provide your landlords phone number and we can call them). If you have current pets, they’ll want to verify that they are up to date on vaccinations and do a doggie meet n greet if you have another dog at home. Chanel’s adoption fee is $250 and that includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, dewormer, flea preventative and any necessary medications she is currently on.
